While the film depicted Cal employing a child to enter a lifeboat, there was another version that was widely circulated after the Titanic sank but didn’t make it into the film.
According to the report, White Star Line chairman Bruce Ismay pretended to be a woman in order to board one of the lifeboats. In the film, we witness him boarding one of the boats with a group of women and children. In real life, though, he appears to have displayed bravery and assisted in the rescue of several of the passengers.
